Greg Sheckler
General Manager, Owner
Being born and bred in the heart of tool and die country, Greg has a passion for being grounded and committed to his community. As a third-generation engineer, it comes as no surprise that Greg devoted himself to the craft of machining and tooling. His devotion to the craft can be further seen with his tenure that spanned three decades with a company that is now Phoenix Mold & Engineering. Having managed thousands of projects, Greg brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the plastic and composites mold industry.
Greg began his career working at Modern Tools in 1988 as an apprentice in their newly created CAD/CAM program, a technology that was in its infancy. The swift evolution of that technology demanded a mindset that focused on continuous improvement. This mindset helped define Greg’s belief and attitude in doing things right and getting it right the first time around.
While attending the University of Toledo during his tenure at Modern Tools, progressing into engineering was the next logical step. This same spirit drove him to develop many designs and techniques such as internal vacuum systems, matched mold variable thickness VARTM and standardized screw-in cores that have become standards in their respective industries over the years.
Though CNC machining has also evolved greatly over the last 30 years, Greg was instrumental at Westool, and now Phoenix, in being an early adapter of high-speed machining, threadmilling, and lights-out machining. Greg intends to be at the forefront of the machining and tooling. His immediate goal at Phoenix as General Manager and Owner is to develop its capacity to include 5-axis machining.
